Welcome!

Welcome! We created London Counselling Psychologists to fill a gap that is often felt by trainee and qualified psychologists. As experienced clinicians and trainers, we can offer training and support every step of your path to qualifying as a Counselling Psychologist and beyond.

These days, most of our work focuses on research support, and mock vivas are our particular specialty, for which we come very well recommended – see some of our reviews below!  However, if you need something specific, please feel free to contact us, more than likely we’ll be able to point you in the right direction.

Check out our supervision directory too, where you’ll find a list of experienced HCPC supervisors with a special interest in supervising trainees’ clinical work. Whether you’re looking for a new supervisor, or you’re interested in being listed in our directory, click here.

We also have a blog! In the blog, we publish articles, news items, requests for participants and all sorts of other bits. Think of it as a cross between a noticeboard and that pile of papers that you never quite get around to reading!

We’re more than happy to create a bespoke event, such as a supervision group or a workshop if you have a specific need and a ready audience!

What people say about us…

I used LCoP for a mock viva a few weeks before the real thing and am so pleased I did. It helped me see how I was focusing on the wrong areas in terms of the viva and sharpened my attention to values and ethics. It’s so important to practice talking about the portfolio and the mock I had challenged me to present strong rationales for each piece of work. Really worth the money!

A really useful, flexible and swift service. I wanted to discuss my research proposal with someone, and I found my LCoP supervisor to be engaging and a great person to bounce ideas off! The supervisor also helped me to critically reflect on the direction I wanted my research to go in, and gave very informative feedback. I feel that I have a clearer sense of what I’m doing and I hope to continue using the service as my thesis/research progresses.

My LCoP supervisor was fantastic at being able to provide a safe and open place for me to talk […] I always felt comfortable to bring my uncertainties and sense of stuck-ness to supervision, feeling safe to get things wrong at times. I was also grateful for her thought-provoking questions that often opened up new and more creative ways of thinking.

“Stay on the f***ing bus!”

“Stay on the fucking bus!”: Persisting with your doctoral research. In 2004, American-Finnish photographer, Arno Minkkinen, gave a graduation speech in which he outlined his theory on the difference between success and failure in one’s career. This difference, he claimed, lay in the operation of Helsinki Bus Station*. He called this theory…….The Helsinki Bus Station Theory.Continue reading ““Stay on the f***ing bus!””
